Dear colleagues, The Programming Technology Lab (PROG) and the System and Software Engineering Lab (SSEL) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel will organise a Belgian Workshop on "Aspect Oriented Programming" (AOP) and "separation of concerns" in general. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners in Belgium who are contributing to the area of AOP, and to provide a first Belgian platform where knowledge transfer, exchange of ideas, and collaboration in this area are facilitated. We would like to reach as many people as possible, so please distribute this e-mail to whomever you think would be interested. We encourage people that are active in the domain of AOP and "separation of concerns" to participate in this workshop. We sollicit topics related, but not limited to: - Aspect Oriented Programming - Subject Oriented Programming - Composition filters - Logic Meta Programming - Experiences in separation of concerns - Adaptive programming - Intentional programming - Generative programming - weaving, aspect languages, metaobject protocols - Overlapping and interacting concerns - Multi-dimensional separation of concerns - Case studies and experience reports on using aspect-oriented programming and separation of concerns - Evaluation of aspect-oriented programming and separation of concerns mechanisms The intended setup is a one-day workshop, during which a number of invited speakers will present their contributions to AOP, alternated with discussions. Ideally, every party substantially involved in AOP or related topics should actively contribute to the workshop with a presentation. You can express your interest in actively participating in this workshop by sending us a short abstract, specifying your contribution to the area of AOP. Based on these abstracts, we will select and schedule the presentations. People who would like to stay informed about this workshop, but do not plan on actively participating in the workshop, are invited to subscribe to our mailinglist: belgianaop@prog2.vub.ac.be. The Belgian AOP Workshop will be held at the VUB, between November 5 and 16. We deliberately didn't fix a day, so that interested parties can also specify their availability. Please specify your time constraints between November 5 and 16 when sending us your abstract. (i.e. When you are or are not available during this time period). The cost of participation will be kept to a minimum to facilitate participation. We set some deadlines for the aforementioned scenario, shown below. But by all means, feel free to contact us anytime at aopworkshop@prog2.vub.ac.be with suggestions, remarks, and so on! - deadline abstract & time constraints: July 15th, to be sent to aopworkshop@prog2.vub.ac.be - invitation for presentation: August 15th - call for participation, date and schedule of the workshop: September 15th Waiting for your reactions, Johan Brichau and Maja D'Hondt PS: Since we want to reach people in Flanders and Wallonie, and because we realise many research labs and companies employ foreigners, we chose to write this email in English. You may, however, respond in Dutch or French. -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Johan Brichau email: johan.brichau@vub.ac.be Programming Technology Lab tel : +32 2 629 34 92 Vrije Universiteit Brussel Pleinlaan 2 Campus Etterbeek B-1050 Brussel Building F, 10th floor Belgium room 10F729
