MOSCOU ( Mobile Simple COUponing ) with Monizze was funded by Innoviris. This feasibility study had the goal of investigating the viability of developing a new way of creating, distributing and redeeming “electronic” coupons. This is like the paper coupons that one sometimes finds in supermarket's magazines, newspapers or on a product itself, but integrated in a software-based virtual wallet running on the user’s smartphone. Digital coupons are implemented at a technical level by a smart object representing rich kinds of information. For example, a digital coupon has graphical information, usage restrictions (e.g. only valid in certain shops), and may depend on specific combinations of articles or other coupons.

MOSCOU ( Mobile Simple COUponing ) with Monizze was funded by Innoviris. This feasibility study had the goal of investigating the viability of developing a new way of creating, distributing and redeeming “electronic” coupons. This is like the paper coupons that one sometimes finds in supermarket's magazines, newspapers or on a product itself, but integrated in a software-based virtual wallet running on the user’s smartphone. Digital coupons are implemented at a technical level by a smart object representing rich kinds of information. For example, a digital coupon has graphical information, usage restrictions (e.g. only valid in certain shops), and may depend on specific combinations of articles or other coupons. 

It is the vision of Monizze that coupons are distributed over virtual wallets such that they contribute actively to the shopping experience of customers; even if  users have no permanent internet connection. When users redeem coupons with their smartphones at a shop, Monizze eventually receives and stores this data, which is then used to create customer profiles. These profiles are valuable both for the advertisers and Monizze. Adverstisers ( e.g. manufacturers, or brands) can compare and adjust their advertisement campaigns based on these profiles while Monizze can offer a richer user experience to its customers (end users). The later can be accomplished by actively offering better and more targeted coupons to customers.
