About me

My name is Dennis Wagelaar. I was born on 7 May 1978 in Losser, The Netherlands. I moved to Brussels in October 2002, and then to Mechelen in 2007 where I still live now with Cynthia.

I've studied at the University of Twente and have done my MSc. project with the TRESE Group. I've done my internship/traineeship in Denmark. There are photos online that were made during my traineeship.

I also had a student company called “Wagelaar IT”. I've discontinued that company when I moved to Belgium.

My main hobby has been Scouting since 1985. I've been a member of the Teylersgroep Scouting Losser, where I've been a cub scout leader and fellowship member for a few years. Currently, I'm not involved with Scouting anymore.

Another hobby of mine is amateur radio. That's actually a bit because of Scouting. Our scouting club took part in the annual Jamboree on the Air, which I found quite interesting. When they needed some new radio amateurs for the event, I was talked into becoming a HAM too ;). I have a CEPT/HAREC license at this moment and my calls are PE2DMW and ON4DMW. I'm sometimes QRV on 2m and 70cm with my Yaesu FT-90R. My QTH is in Mechelen, JO21FA. I got soundmodem to work on my Zaurus too, which allows me to play a bit with 1200 baud packet radio and APRS. Here are some photos of my setup (shack).

Photos

Some of the pictures I've made using my digital camera are on the web in several places (it uses up loads of space). Below are the links to the “albums” I've made:

Canon EOS 450D/17-85mm EF-S lens & Sony F505v

Tech wiki

I like to experiment with hardware and software alike. I've created some wiki pages to keep track of what I've been doing:
