Software Architectures
Master course, taught since 2015–2016.
Instructor: Coen De Roover
Covers techniques to design, document, implement, and evaluate the architecture of large-scale software systems, from foundational concepts and architectural views through classic patterns (layered, dependency injection, pipe-and-filter, publish-subscribe, MVC) to patterns specific to microservice architectures for messaging, state and persistence, scalability, and fault tolerance. Concludes with architectural tactics for realising quality attributes such as availability, interoperability, performance, security, and modifiability.
Taught continuously since the 2015–2016 academic year. See the VUB course catalog (Caliweb) for the current syllabus and schedule.
