On February 1st, 2012, the Software Languages Lab, in cooperation with Erlang Solutions, will be hosting the first Erlang Factory Lite event in Belgium. This is an ideal opportunity to get up to speed on all things Erlang, and to meet some of the most respected names in the Erlang community. Francesco Cesarini, co-author of the book Erlang Programming, will be hosting a tutorial as well. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
On October 6-7, the Software Languages Lab and the Web and Information Systems Lab hosted a lecture series on Web Security by Google Research Scientist Mark S. Miller. The lecture series consisted of two talks, one targeted at an industrial audience, another targeted at a research audience. Slides and videos will be available soon. Read more

Jorge Vallejos finished his Ph.D. dissertation 'Modularising Context Dependency and Group Behaviour in Ambient-oriented Programming'. His public defence is on Thursday the 7th of July 2011 at 17:00 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
The BrusSense Team at the Software Languages Lab organised the ESF Exploratory Workshop on the Internet of Things for a Sustainable Future IoTSust, which was held in Vielsalm, Belgium, from 9 May to 13 May 2011 (download booklet). ESF Exploratory Workshops are closed, all-expenses paid workshops which enable the initiation of a network of researchers on an exploratory topic in the European Research Arena. Eighteen researchers with various backgrounds and from all over Europe were present.
The Software Languages Lab co-organises MtATL 2011, the 3rd International Workshop on Model Transformation with ATL, which will be held in Zürich, Switzerland, on 1 July 2011. MtATL is co-located with TOOLS Europe 2011 and ICMT 2011. Paper submission deadline is on 1 April 2011 8 April 2011.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang De Meuter is chair of the program committee for COORDINATION 2011 co-located with the 6th International Federated Conferences on Distributed Computing Techniques (DisCoTec) in Reykjavik, Iceland. The conference takes place at June 6-9 2011.
